Janet Shapiro is a co-author the “California Practice Guide: Bankruptcy,”โ which is a four-volume Practice Guide published by The Rutter Group a division of Thomson Reuters. Her work with TRG’s “Bankruptcy”โ Practice Guide is on-going as the publication is updated annually.
The topics that Janet co-authors and edits in the “Bankruptcy”โ Practice Guide and her practice areas include the following:
- The use sale, or lease of property, including real estate;
- Financing secured by real property other assets;
- Retention and compensation of professionals in a bankruptcy case;
- Appellate practice and procedure with particular focus on the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals
- Application of bankruptcy law on ownership or leasehold interests in real estate;
- Application of bankruptcy law on the division of assets and liabilities in a divorce case;
- Application of bankruptcy law on mortgages, deeds of trust, statutory liens, lis pendens, or judgment liens attached to real property;
- Discharge and nondischargeability of debts; and
- Application of 11 U.S.C. ยง 524(g) to mass tort asbestos cases in a Chapter 11.
In addition to the foregoing, Janet is an editor of TRG’s “Bankruptcy” Practice Guide (National Edition), which is derived from the California edition.
